Our Story

Our signs says Established in 1932 but the story is much more interesting than that!
Today H Marsdens is run by Julie, fondly known as Jules by most in the town. Jules' husband is Glyn Foster and it was his grandad Harry Marsden who started the jewellery and watch business in the centre of Brighouse town centre, a busy industrial town in those days!.

When Harry was ready to retire his daughter Joyce (Glyns mother) took over the business. It was during this time that a young Jules aged only 16 started her shop career next door at a florist. On hearing the wages were better at the jewellers Jules was not backward in coming forward and asked Joyce for a job and was successful.

Jules thought the boss's son was a bit posh for her tastes but never the less a year later he woo'd her and eventually they married. 40 years later Jules says "When I arrived here I never imagined I would be running the place"
